motorcycles and two commercial cars were found.
On Saturday, residents of Unity Estate, Poro-Imope, Idiroko, along Itamaga-Ijede Road, Ikorodu, discovered a junk yard where live ammunition was allegedly kept nearby.
At the yard that was allegedly run by a group of non-Yoruba guys, two commercial vehicles, a few disassembled motorcycles, and personal effects were also seized.
According to eyewitness reports, the discovery occurred at around 12.30 p.m. when a resident who was passing by noticed a suspicious movement by the group and subsequently raised the alarm, drawing the attention of other residents.
Apart from the strange move, one of the residents, Mr. Alao Kehinde, who informed Vanguard about the finding, claimed he saw the men packing the stuff into two vehicles with the intention of traveling to an unspecified location.
Before the vehicles pulled off, the man is alleged to have swiftly warned his neighbors.
Three suspects were reportedly captured as a result of some Oodua Peoples' Congress, OPC, and Ikorodu Peace Initiative members reportedly rushing to the area.
Additionally, "the scrap yard has been functioning in the vicinity for some time, but until we saw what happened today, no one imagined that they could be trading in cartridges,"
The three suspects, together with the cartridges, vehicles, and other stuff, were reportedly given to Igbogbo Division personnel for questioning.
Ikorodu Ambassadors Group founder Rasheed Fatuga, who was among the first on the scene and spoke with Vanguard, said, "I took the suspects to the Police station, I rode with the Ikorodu Peace Initiative in their car.
Residents of the neighborhood exposed the yard and raised the alarm, drawing law enforcement agents.
"Operations of Ikorodu Division of the Lagos State Police Command have intercepted two commercial buses loaded with large quantities of live cartridges, three disassembled motorcycles, and some personal effects at Poromope Estate, Ijede Road, Ikorodu, Lagos State," said SP Benjamin Hundeyin, Spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, in a statement confirming the discovery.
The suspects, Tukur Abdullah (m), 35, Muazu Telim (m), 50, and Dahiru Idris (m), 36, were reportedly traveling to Katsina State, according to preliminary investigations.
