Mai Atafo, the most prominent fashion designer, added a new achievement to his resume when he was recently honored for his contributions to the fashion business in Nigeria and elsewhere at the inaugural The African Prints Party (TAPP2022).
Lagos literally came to a standstill last weekend as visitors flocked to the event's location, which took place in the Oriental Hotel's ballroom on Victoria Island.
The awarding of Mai Atafo by Blackdrum 360 CEO Emmanuel Odole was the highlight of the evening. After accepting the honor, the multi-award-winning Atafo expressed his gratitude for the thoughtfulness.
This has been a very humbling experience for me, he remarked. This prize from The African Prints Party organizers is a fantastic honor for me. In addition to continuing to inspire and support upcoming African designers, I will continue to contribute to the industry's expansion.
For his part, Dr. Emmanuel Odole, the event's organizer, referred to Atafo as an icon who has influenced countless designers all over the world.
"His output speaks for itself. There is no denying Mai Atafo's status as an icon. He has elevated the fashion sector in Nigeria through hard effort and innovation, which is why the #TAPP2022 team chose to honor him with this prestigious award.
